Clark Scholars Program

Extending The Vision

From 1987 to 2025, the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation advanced Mr. Clark’s belief in the power of hard work and giving back. The Clark Foundation’s mission was to ensure that individuals and families have access to the opportunities, support, and resources that enable them to reach their full potential. In its final decade, the Foundation adopted a strategic spend down, investing in engineering education, community initiatives in Washington, D.C., and support for veterans.

Launched in 2016, the A. James Clark Scholars Program has supported some of the nation’s most promising engineers, scholars, and community leaders.

Clark Scholars Program Network (CSPN)

In 2025, the program found a permanent home at the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering, where it is now sustained through the Clark Scholars Program Network. The Network ensures the program’s impact continues in perpetuity by supporting Clark Scholars across 11 partner universities, sharing data and best practices to strengthen student success, building a strong alumni community, hosting an annual Clark Scholars Summit, and much more.
