Clark Scholars Program

Eligibility and Requirements

Clark Candidates Are:

  • First-generation college students with demonstrated financial need
  • Passionate about engineering and STEM, even without prior access to STEM programs
  • Students who have shown leadership by working jobs, supporting family, or volunteering
  • Promising students who may not otherwise have access to a top-level university
  • Note: Candidates are identified for the Clark Scholars program through the university’s admissions process

Clark Scholars Are:

  • Hardworking and motivated, reflecting Mr. Clark’s belief in effort over titles
  • Engaged and collaborative, contributing to a supportive peer community
  • Curious learners eager to grow through mentoring, research, service, and leadership
  • Members of a unique Penn Engineering cohort and the national Clark Network at 10 other prestigious universities

Clark Scholars Will:

  • Remain enrolled in Penn Engineering and declare a major within the School
  • Maintain high academic standards, including a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Participate fully in all Clark Scholars programming and opportunities
  • Invest in their personal growth through mentoring, service learning, internships, research, leadership development, and innovation training
  • Contribute to a community of peers who support and challenge one another
  • Graduate prepared to make meaningful contributions to society—and stay connected through the Clark Network
