Bioengineering

Hobbies

My hobbies include baking, photography, and fashion.

Future Goals

As a bioengineer, my future goals are to create and design medical devices for those in need and incorporate entrepreneurship into my career. When creating these designs, I aspire to use engineering applications to be innovative to the medical field and help diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Hobbies

Some activities that I enjoy doing in my free time include, CAD, running, badminton, playing the piano, and crocheting. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and going to new places in the city with them

Future Goals

I aim to have a career in the robotics industry, ideally for a major company. In addition to career goals, a personal goal is to design my own house once I’m settled. I also hope to learn another language one day.

Amaris Chen

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Electrical Engineering

Hobbies

Reading, collecting stickers, and listening to music

Future Goals

I hope to become financially independent and provide for my family and community.

Justin Ewan

Allentown, Pennsylvania

Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Hobbies

In my free time, I love to do a lot of artsy activities like listening to music -- my favorite genres are hip hop, indie pop, and r&b -- and taking photos. I also like to watch sports like football, basketball, and soccer, and play video games.

Future Goals

My current future life goal is to work either on performance engines for a top-end car company, or on planes in general. Also, in the future, I want to own a mechanics shop so in my free time I can work on cars — which I love so dearly.

Kim Huang

Brooklyn, New York

Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Hobbies

I like to workout in the gym to clear my mind. I also enjoy crocheting and casually playing volleyball. I also like to play video games on occasion like cyberpunk.

Future Goals

I would like to go within the robotics concentration to learn about controls and dynamics, where I can apply what I learn from that concentration to create thrust-vector controlled rocket, as well as just learning how robotics works in general.

Andy Huynh

Fort Worth, Texas

Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Hobbies

I like to relax by sketching and drawing art, usually based on media that I consume. Reading action-filled stories in mangas are a fun pastime for me as it's easy to get lost in those imaginative worlds. I also love playing open-world and strategic video games like Minecraft and Teamfight Tactics!

Future Goals

My goal at Penn is to utilize its resources and grasp a direction towards the right fit of disciplines of engineering for me to pursue in the future! I aim to gain research and industry-based internship experience and dig deep to find what I’m truly passionate about. I hope to engineer a way that would enable me to transfer that passion to projects done to help communities around the world.

Emily Jiang

Plainview, New York

Applied Science-Biomed Science

Hobbies

In my free time, I love to explore the visual and performing arts, whether that involves painting, sketching, listening to and playing instruments, or dancing. I have been playing instruments for over a decade, and they have always been essential in keeping me grounded. Along with this, I am looking to join club sports and am always willing to get involved in other activities.

Future Goals

For my future, I am aiming to enter research in pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, and neuroengineering. With Penn’s support, I hope to expand my knowledge in both the arts and sciences to make a positive impact on as many people as possible and advocate for underrepresented communities around the world.

Jeshua Olivencia

Anasco, Puerto Rico

Bioengineering

Hobbies

My hobbies include Weightlifting, MMA, building stuff, and learning languages.

Future Goals

My future goals would be to work with biopolymers, artificial organ growth, or become an orthopedic surgeon.

Jevin Ta

Artificial Intelligence

Hobbies

I love traveling to new places whenever I get the chance to! In my free time, I also enjoy dancing, baking, listening to music, going to concerts, and scoping out the perfect boba spots to fuel my boba addiction.

Future Goals

I don’t know what exactly I want to be in the future yet, but I do know that I want to be involved in the ever-growing artificial intelligence sector of our world. Artificial intelligence has become a potent and integral part of our daily lives, such as the widespread use of ChatGPT as a learning aide. I see myself delving into the world of artificial intelligence and contributing to its growth as it continues to permeate more aspects in our daily lives.

Artificial Intelligence

Hobbies

Being from both the plains and the Rocky Mountains, outdoor activities have been a huge part of what I do in my free time. From hiking adventures and midnight star-gazing night-walks, to ski-ing down the slopes of Breckenridge, I enjoy it all. When I'm not outdoors or just need to relax, I like to read, practice dancing for Pow Wows, binge-watch movies and shows, or listen to true crime videos.

Future Goals

As someone who is passionate for advocating for the Indigenous communities who have raised me, I hope to be able to give back by being a lawyer, specifically in tribal law. However, before I go to law school, I would like to work in the fields of strategy and business development due to the interesting dynamic nature and challenges the field has. At Penn, I plan to use the skills I gain from the Artificial Intelligence (and possibly a sub-matriculated masters in Data Science) degree in order to prepare me to be both a technologically and mathematically competent lawyer while also expanding my reasoning skills.
